How A DJ Can Make or  Break Your Wedding

A common misconception for dj selection is that every dj is the same and they simply show up and press play. WRONG! Choosing a dj is actually a very time consuming task. When you think of your reception, we're sure you think of beautiful decorations and dreamy music wafting through the air. However, what happens if the dj is ill-prepared and doesn't have the music your supposed to dance to with your new husband? Better yet, what if the dj doesn't remember the warning you gave him about your third cousin Puck who if intoxicated will start a moshpit if the popular head banging music is on and plays it anyway? These are extreme cases but they are worries a bride shouldn't be concerned with. Your dj should be someone you can rely on.

Before you start your dj search, you need to ask your self a few questions.

With all these considered, the dj will set the tone for your wedding. They literally act as Master of Ceremonies for your entire wedding reception. In order for things to proceed smoothly, you need to arrange a consultation with a dj to get you a format packet that asks you different questions for your wedding that includes how you want to be introduced at the reception as well as when your first dance will be.

A good DJ or DJ company will have a form for you to fill out that's your entire reception template. This form for your wedding is a crucial document for your dj to have. Not only does it provide instructions and music, it also sets the entire flow of the reception. A good dj will have everything timed including cocktails, picture- taking and when the caterers should have the food ready. Without this staple your entire reception could fall apart. The dj needs to know when you plan to cut the cake and when you plan to throw the garter and the bouquet (if you do).

Another aspect that needs to be considered is the music selection. On the form there should be a section asking for specific songs and genre you absolutely don't want to hear. A good dj will see this and play the appropriate music for your special day. Remember your wedding day is about the two of you not about you, your husband, and your obnoxious cousin Puck.
